Recycled cans.

I couldn’t resist linking to this article in Popular Science that shows us 10 ways to eliminate America’s dependence on oil/fossil fuels. The best part about the article is that most of the steps listed are pretty small steps. I mean, making hybrid cars that plug into conventional 110V AC outlets is not a big deal. Many people have already modified their hybrids to do this.

The only thing that bothers me is that they’re not predicting this to change until 2025. I’m gonna put solar cells on my house when I buy it. And hey, maybe I’ll get a second job while I’m at it….lazy Americans.

  1. Jon says:

how does plugging a car into an outlet whose electricity is generated from burning a fossil fuel help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels?

PS i didn’t read the article very closely

  2. Ben says:

Its better because electricity is cheaper, and can extend the range of a hybrid to up to something like 200 miles before the gas engine kicks on. And on top that, using electricity only polutes the environment once, instead of twice like gas (refinement and then burning the gas.)

And even if its not better for the environment, its still cheaper.
