Well, it turns out I was able to get Oblivion on the 21st. I had to check at 3 stores, but eventually one of them had it….and man, it was worth the hype!
My words will never do justice to the awesomeness that is Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The graphics are top notch, on par with anything out today, and the gameplay is amazing. I’ve probably only got about 5 or so hours of played time into it, but I’ve already completed quests that would put any other RPG to shame in scope, complexity, and realism. Gone are the days of the messenger quest, or “kill x of y” quests. This game gets it all right.
Its only shortcoming, for some people, are the beefy system requirements. I’ve got an Athlon X2 4200+ with 1 Gig of RAM, and a 6600GT with 128 Megs of RAM, and this thing isn’t exactly silky smooth. I know its my videocard holding me back, and I could easily drop another 6600GT in there for SLI mode to add some more FPS in dense areas, but as we all know, I’m saving up for a wedding.
At any rate, updates may be sparse for the next week or so whilst I get the Oblivion shaken out of me. For the meantime, check Elderscrolls.com and Oblivionportal.com for interesting news on the game. Its worth looking at.
