Free lunch.

I meant to post this earlier, but got caught up in things…so anyways. Some really hard work has gone into a totally free game that will run on both Linux and Windows. Its called Nexuiz. Weird name, but a good game.

Basically, Nexuiz aims to be the purest form of online deathmatch gaming there can be. Its based on the Quake engine from id Software. Quake 1?? How can that be?? Well, these guys are extremely talented. They made the game along with the author of the Dark Places engine modification, and believe me, this game can basically compete in the visuals department with anything made today. Its got realistic shadows and lighting and all the goodies you can think of, yet it can also be scaled back to run on much more modest hardware.I spent a good deal of time playing it yesterday and today and can honestly say its very fun, and harkens back to my former glory days playing Quake and Quake 2. All I have to say is thank god for open source software.

If you have the time, I recommend checking it out. Its worth the download. So hopefully, I’ll shoot you in the back sometime in Nexuiz.
